The Brief

The Hay Street property in Tewantin started out as a tired, single-story brick house that had outlived its prime. Our clients loved the central location but had completely outgrown the floorplan. The goal wasn’t just a simple cosmetic update—it was a total knockdown and rebuild to create a spacious, light-filled custom home that actually captured the Sunshine Coast lifestyle.

The Build

We transformed the site into a striking, multi-level modern home from the ground up. To give the facade some real character, we grounded the entrance with a heavy, natural stone feature wall. This provides a fantastic textural contrast against the clean, crisp lines of the white weatherboard cladding.

We deliberately brought in warm timber accents—specifically across the custom garage door and the upper balcony detailing—to soften the modern architecture and give the home serious street appeal. Knowing how important outdoor living is in Queensland, we designed a massive upper-floor balcony featuring seamless glass balustrades. It creates the ultimate elevated entertaining zone, perfectly positioned to catch those coastal Tewantin breezes.
